Utility construction begins in Penacook

Construction will begin this week to move utilities underground in Penacook village.

Drivers should expect traffic delays along Route 3 from Stark Street to the Boscawen town line, according to City Manager Tom Aspell’s weekly newsletter.

Beginning on Tuesday, contractors will move equipment to relocate the utilities. Liberty Utilities is already working on its gas main from Meter Street to Coral Street, Aspell wrote.

The work is expected to be complete by Thanksgiving.

The city council voted this year to relocate utilities underground in downtown Penacook. The reconstruction of Route 3 through the center of the village will begin next year.
