New program to focus on leadership for the homeless

A new program will help New Hampshire’s homeless population develop leadership skills.

Beginning in November, the New Hampshire Coalition to End Homelessness will train 15 people in a six-month program.

Participants must be currently or formerly homeless. The program, called Granite Leaders, will teach participants leadership skills, according to a release from the organization.

“Many people who have experienced homelessness want to engage in civic activities that can help others who are in similar situations,” said Cathy Kuhn, director of the coalition, in a press release. “Granite Leaders will provide participants with knowledge and skills that they can use to become effective leaders on behalf of those most vulnerable in their communities.”

The organization is accepting applications now through Oct. 9. Its organizers are also seeking sponsors.
