The Insiders: Shakespeare returns to his favorite city
It’s a little known fact that Shakespeare preferred Eagle Square, right here in Concord, to most any other venue around the world in which his works have been performed. Well, perhaps fact is too strong a word. It’s a little known fabrication, at least. Either way, the Bard would be happy to know that this weekend Eagle Square will be alive with the fruits of his labor, albeit with some modern tweaking. Knighthorse Theatre Company will present A Midsummer Night’s Dream tonight at 7 in Eagle Square, followed tomorrow night by Shakespeare on Demand, where audience members call out lines, characters or scenes from a Shakespeare play and the actors both perform the requests and position them into a modern context. That show is at 7 p.m., as well.
In more animated theatrical news, the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center is hosting a showing of Phineas And Ferb: Across The 2nd Dimension as part of Super Stellar Sci-Fi Friday Night. The movie begins at 7 p.m., but doors open at 6:30 p.m. Call 271-7827 for reservations.
