Man arrested for allegedly stealing food from garden
A 29-year-old Boscawen man was arrested yesterday for allegedly stealing produce from the Sycamore Community Garden Project in Concord.
The state police detained Francisco Sorrentino III after receiving information from witnesses who said they saw Sorrentino load several 5-gallon buckets with various garden produce, place them in a truck and drive away. Sorrentino is believed to have stolen produce from the garden, which serves low-income families, predominantly from the city’s refugee community, on two occasions, the police said.
Sorrentino was charged with two counts of theft by unauthorized taking, was released on $3,000 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in Concord’s district court Nov. 18.
