Demolition begins on Agway Site
Demolition began last week at the site of the old Agway property on South Commercial Street.
The city purchased the former Agway this year for $350,000. A vacant building was hit by fire in August.
Demolition began Wednesday and may continue for 45 days, City Manager Tom Aspell wrote in his weekly newsletter. The city will then leave a field on the property.
The land is in the path of a planned Storrs Street expansion connecting downtown with the Horseshoe Pond area scheduled for 2019.
