N.H. Republican party chairwoman responds to State of State

Following Democratic Gov. Maggie Hassan’s State of the State address today, Jennifer Horn, the New Hampshire Republican State Committee chairwoman, released the following statement:

“Gov. Maggie Hassan offered no new ideas or real proposals to move New Hampshire forward and create more economic opportunity for middle class families. She missed an important opportunity to layout a bold vision for the future of our state and instead used this speech to lay the groundwork for her support of a disastrous gas tax increase.

“A gas tax hike during tough economic times will punish working families, hurt small businesses and kill jobs. Granite Staters shouldn’t be forced to pay more at the pump simply because Gov. Hassan is unwilling to do her job and look for ways to control spending and eliminate government waste and inefficiency. She continues to remind voters that she lacks the commitment to fiscal discipline that they expect from their governor.”

Hassan is not a leader or a statesman - She is a pure professional hand shaking, baby kissing, used car salesman quality politician. Any 5th grader can raise taxes to fix a whim. It takes a real leader to figure out how to run things with what you have. 1st thing she did was put what little political capital she had into pushing the disastrous Gambling bill - now she is pushing a Gas Tax. The only thing democrats know is how to raise fees and taxes - they never reduce spending. - Last time she was in charge of the House she raised spending by 25%.
