State Rep. Peter Hansen apologized yesterday for referring to women as “vaginas” in an email to the full House.

“I want to apologize to my constituents, my colleagues and women, especially those in my life, for the blatantly offensive, insensitive and, frankly, stupid language I used in my email with House members regarding the Stand Your Ground legislation,” Hansen, an Amherst Republican, said in a statement. “I am embarrassed, to say the least. There is no place or need in the public discourse for the words I used. The people and the process deserve better than that.”

Hansen wrote in an April 1 email to the all-House email list that “children and vagina’s” had been missing from another member’s remarks on the bill to repeal New Hampshire’s 2011 “stand your ground” law.

The bill passed the Democratic-
controlled House, 189-184, and is awaiting attention from the Republican-controlled Senate.

Hansen’s email was posted on a website Monday, and his language was subsequently condemned by, among others, NARAL Pro-Choice New Hampshire, Gov. Maggie Hassan, House Majority Leader Steve Shurtleff and House Minority Leader Gene Chandler.

The rest of us are worried about Boston. And this IDIOT is snickering over using the word "vagina". Shows you the mentality of the NH Republicans. Nuff Said !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah well, while the rest of us are worried about Boston, Obama threw a hissy fit and called some Americans liars. Nuff said.

I bet the good folks of Amherst are glad they voted this representative in....

I hope women that love New Hampshire like I do will understand that an apology for calling women vaginas is not acceptable and meaningless. His use of vaginas to refer to women is insulting and shows his lack of respect for women, includiing and probably worst of all that women aren't equal. Please help me vote this horrible excuse for a man, State Rep. Peter Hansen, out of office. Awful, especially when used to denigrate a huge percentage of the population's opinion. Safe retreat is always better than using deadly force. It is not self defense, if there isn't retreat or attempt to de-escalate.

Politically-motivated apologies for ignorance are not only worthless, but unworthy of consideration.
