At the end of a food line where soup and sandwiches were served, Gov. Maggie Hassan offered chocolate-dipped and sprinkle-covered cookies to the nearly 70 people that came to The Friendly Kitchen for a meal on Monday. Hassan worked alongside four other volunteers that served up lunch to people young and old. With most school-age children out on holiday break and away from their school lunch, the staff at the Friendly Kitchen sees a rise in food insecure families bringing their kids for a meal.
