Sox owner to take lead at ‘Globe’

New Boston Globe owner John Henry said he will be the newspaper’s publisher.

Henry said yesterday that he will concentrate on strategy and Boston advertising executive Mike Sheehan will oversee day-to-day business operations as CEO.

Sheehan was the CEO of Hill Holliday and joined the Globe earlier this month as a consultant. The Massachusetts native began his newspaper career as sports editor of the Weymouth News.

Former publisher Christopher Mayer was credited with restoring the Globe’s profitability. He resigned this month.
