Lakes Region Community College announced that it will offer a new associate degree program, Health Information Technology through its computer technologies department, for the fall 2014 semester. Rep. Carol Shea Porter and the United States Department of Agriculture announced at a press conference in Laconia on July 2 that seven organizations in New Hampshire will share $175,000 in USDA Rural Development job-creating grants. The seven grantees are Belknap Economic Development Council, Snow Drifters, Capital Regional Development Council, Ammonoosuc Conservation Trust, Sullivan County, Women’s Rural Entrepreneurial Network and Northern Community Investment Corporation.

The United States Treasury Department’s State Small Business Credit Initiative recently released a quarterly report stating that New Hampshire deployed about $12.1 million to grow small businesses. New Hampshire has participated in the SSBCI program since 2011 and has deployed 92 percent of its total $13,168,350 in SSBCI funds through the New Hampshire Business Finance Authority.
