Indoor golf club opens above Patrick’s Pub in Gilford
A new indoor golf club has opened above Patrick’s Pub and Eatery in Gilford, featuring three virtual golf courses.
The club is hosting an open house today for potential members and golf fans from 2 to 7 p.m., with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 5 p.m. The club currently has half of its 80 membership spots open. Alan Beetle, co-owner of Patrick’s Pub, is one of the club’s four partners, and the club is leasing the space from Patrick’s. Dan Wilkins, a professional golfer and former manager at Laconia Country Club, is another co-owner who will serve as club manager.
In addition to the golf simulators, which feature 41 different courses, there’s an open kitchen and space for members to hang out over food and drink. It does not have a staff, so members will be responsible for bringing their own beverages and food. The club will also feature big screen televisions and a putting area.
Indoor golf clubs are springing up around the state, Wilkins said, but this club is different than others because it is private. Right now, he is at the club everyday to help new members learn how to use the equipment, but eventually it will be unmanned because members will have swipe cards for access 24-hours a day. The owners hope the club will serve as a place for indoor golfers to maintain their game during the winter.
“We just felt with all the golfers that stick around here in the winter time that there’d be definitely a need for something like this,” he said.
