Google to offer virtual tours of Concord businesses
A Google photographer will be coming to Concord in mid-July to photograph the interior of local businesses, giving interested patrons a chance to see inside the business from their computer, tablet or smart phone.
“It really, really enhances the business,” said photographer Jim Hilker, a photographer based out of New York state.
Hilker will be in Concord July 17-19, and businesses must sign up online in advance at seeinsideNH.com. For a small fee, Hilker will take 360-degree photographs of businesses’ interiors. Those photos will then be uploaded to companies’ Google pages. That means when someone searches for the business on Google, they’ll get all of the business’s information, plus a look inside.
Hilker would not say what the cost is but said it is modest.
Depending on the store’s size, Hilker’s visit could take 25 minutes to an hour. Home-based businesses and hospitals are not eligible. But any other type of business, such as a frozen yogurt shop, a carry-out pizza counter or shoe repair store is eligible, as long as the business already has a Google page.
These Google virtual tours have been available for about a year, and photographers like Hilker are traveling to cities across the country.
Before coming to Concord, he will be in Laconia on July 15 and 16. Businesses must sign up online, as Hilker will cancel and go to another city if there is not enough interest.
Several other local photographers are also certified Google photographers who offer this service year round. Curt Lloyd, the first certified Google photographer in New Hampshire, has photographed all of the Grappone car dealerships, and can be reached through CJLfotos.com. Steve Hebert, a Manchester-based photographer, also provides this service. He’s done Google tours for businesses in Manchester, Nashua and Concord and can be reached at BeFoundNH.com.
