State approves paving contract for Route 9 in Hillsboro, Stoddard
Nearly 14 miles of state Route 9 running through Stoddard and Hillsboro will be repaved in the next year.
The Executive Council yesterday voted, 5-0, to approve a $4.2 million contract for the work with Continental Industries Inc. of Londonderry. Three companies bid for the project and Continental came in with the lowest price, though it was still nearly $31,000 higher than the Department of Transportation’s cost estimate.
Some 13.6 miles of Route 9 will be repaved, from just east of Granite Lake Road in Stoddard to west of Route 31 North in Hillsboro, near the Franklin Pierce Homestead. That section of road was last paved between 2003 and 2005, and the new work will wrap up by mid-July 2014.
Federal money will cover the entire cost of the project.
