So it’s a rare occasion that anyone gets to eat at 35 restaurants in a span of just a few hours.

But I did it. Along with plenty of other folks who attended the Taste of Concord last night at the Grappone Center in Concord.

It was something. Rooms and hallways were packed with businesses and people, and I don’t think I saw an unhappy face in the bunch.

Soups, sandwiches, beer, wine, chimichangas, sushi, fruit – and of course plenty of sweets. You name it, it was there.

Here are some of my personal highlights from the night, however, I doubt there were very lowlights for folks.

∎ I loved the gourmet popcorn from Michele’s Sweet Shoppe. The buffalo flavor was awesome, and I bet it’d be great with a brew on game day.

∎ There was pulled pork everywhere, and I love me some pulled pork. I do think my favorite, though, was from the Draft with their chipotle BBQ sauce.

∎ The Meat House’s homemade sausage (especially the spicy sausage) also struck my fancy. They were serving it with pasta, but I bet it’d be just as good on a bun.

∎ The slider competition didn’t disappoint me. Personally, it was a toss up for best sandwich between the Barley House’s BBQ brisket slider and the Hungry Buffalo’s roast bison slider. But I also think Cheers’s chicken and waffle slider was the most intriguing.

∎ I had an apple from the Boys & Girls Club, too. So at least I can tell my doctor I ate something that was super healthy.

The baked goods and sweets were probably the highlight of the night. And that’s saying something. I rarely eat sweets, but I couldn’t help myself last night.

∎ My favorite dessert was the Red Blazer’s grasshopper brownie. Chewy and moist with a hint of mint. It was awesome.

∎ I didn’t try the pumpkin whoopie pies from Cheers or the Red Blazer, but my associate, Insider Editor Keith Testa, still assures me I should have.

∎ I finished my night with a dark chocolate coconut almond delight, and I think that was the perfect choice. Plus the folks there gave me a few pieces of chocolate to take home to my fiancée, who couldn’t make it out. So basically, I’m a hero.

I can’t wait until next year’s event and I highly recommend it to anyone who may be on the fence.
