Letter: What’s the cost?

On Tuesday the New Hampshire Senate opened a hearing on SB 413, the expansion of Medicaid, and for the life of me I don’t understand why. Due to time constraints, the Legislative Budget Assistant was unable to provide a fiscal footnote estimating the costs to be absorbed after the federal funds decrease to 90 percent of the cost of the program.

The cost to New Hampshire taxpayers on the rejected House bill was $50 million to $80 million a year.

Before we overload on Obama Kool-Aid, we need to know the estimated cost to be borne by New Hampshire taxpayers and what the source of the revenue will be.

Was it really time restraints or is the LBA playing politics to cover up the fact that the only way to fund this expansion of government is an income tax, as casinos and the sale of pot will not generate enough revenue?
