Letter: We can’t thank them enough
To town and school district moderators: When you open this years’s town and school meetings in your communities, please consider honoring the men and women who have served and are serving our country in uniform by asking them to stand and be recognized for their sacrifices in defense of our nation in times of war, conflicts and peace. Ask them to come forward or remain standing to lead the meeting in the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag. Give special thanks and recognition to our aging population of World War II veterans, and to the Korean and Vietnam-era vets, many of whom were never thanked when returning home.
Last year a number of towns formally recognized their veterans and servicemen and women. We urge more towns to do the same in 2014. A thanks you for service will make their day. We can’t thank them enough.
