Letter: Weare school math

A mailer sent out to Weare residents states that the proposed school district budget for 2014 represents a $113,384 increase or a 0.79 percent increase from the current operating budget.

The current operating budget is $13,949,010. The 2014-15 proposed operating budget is $14,421,694, a $472,684 or 3.4 percent increase.

Last year voters approved a bond article for roof repairs for Center Woods School for $300,000 and to raise $59,400 to pay first-year principal and interest on that bond.

Including the bond payment into the current operating budget, the proposed budget increase is $413,284 or a 2.8 percent increase – not the $113,384 or 0.79 percent increase stated.
