Letter: Live by Stark’s words

Our America is changing more and more everyday. Our faith in mankind, hope for tomorrow, strength and respectability as a nation is deteriorating.

As Americans, we must stand united, being involved in our towns and cities, making known what we expect from our candidates now and at voting time.

We must tell those in power that we will not give up our God-given rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We have the power to make changes happen for the betterment of our country.

We must never forget what the Constitution means to all of us, making it absolutely necessary that we live by those famous words of General John Stark, Live Free or Die.

Lots of words but you miss the point. Our democracy will , I say , will go down the drain. You said " Granted there are some that feel they are owed something for nothing but that is not the case. " That is the case exactly to which I am referring. Those to which I refer do live comfortably and regard their life as "living". They know of no other way or out of their environment.

Pay attention Our democracy will cease to exist by decay if and when we take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who refuse to work. Our president has already begun this downward move.

Pay attention

Contrary to popular opinion, just because you receive assistance doesn't mean you don't want to work. Granted there are some that feel they are owed something for nothing but that is not the case. For every case of welfare fraud there is an embezzler or a Madoff at the other end. Furthermore, take a minute and figure out how you could comfortably live on what you'd make living on the dole. That is existing not living. There is more to life than the accumulation of $$$$$ and somewhere along the line we have forgotten that.
