Letter: State of hypocrites
A while back there was talk of altering the New Hampshire slogan. I have a suggestion: How about Live Free and Hypocrize?
We fight bringing casino gambling to our state as not being the “New Hampshire Way.” Yet we salivate over the returns from the lottery. We brag about our strong DUI laws, yet we sell alcohol on highways. We boast that we have neither an income nor sales tax. Yet what is an additional gas tax but a hidden sales tax? All products travel by truck at one time or another. Any increase in expense is passed down to the consumer. We boast about being a “green state,” yet we fight clean hydro power passing through our state. We want them to bury the transmission lines; what about the poles and lines on our streets?
So what is the New Hampshire Way?
