Hi 44° | Lo 22°

Letter: He deserved more respect

My husband was in the National Guard for 20 years and retired last April. He got his paperwork in the mail all unsigned – nothing showing his service, no flag or even being called to be in front of his family, showing how proud they are or we are for his serving our country.

I don’t think this is right at all. He should be treated with the respect he deserves and be handed his papers and flag for taking his time serving the country he loves.

I did notify the governor, and she sent him a state flag.

This is sad. But I think when you are $18 trillion in debt and rising, we can expect more of this.

Sorry to hear of this egregious omission, Terri. I do like what the governor did in sending that flag, however. New Hampshire has a beautiful state flag. one that any Granite State citizen would be very proud to own. Small consolation at this juncture, I know, but please tell your husband we do sincerely appreciate his service to New Hampshire, and all the United States of America. Please allow me to add a heap of thanks to the entire family for the sacrifices they made while their patriarch was in service. As a former military brat, I know a little bit about it.
