Letter: No ‘ground swell’ in Webster
Regarding an article concerning some parents in Webster who are interested in sending their children to Hopkinton schools (Monitor front page, April 18), I think it is inaccurate to characterize this issue as gaining a “ground swell” of support.
In fact, I’m willing to bet that I represent a majority of residents in my town who are satisfied with things just as they are.
Our family moved to Webster 16 years ago because we thought it was a beautiful place with traditional rural New England values and reasonable taxes.
We feel that our child is getting a good education at Merrimack Valley provided by competent educators and administrators.
When it comes time for a special town meeting I urge my fellow citizens in Webster to attend and to make a stand against moving our kids out of the Merrimack Valley School District.
Let’s not allow a minority of residents in our town to override the wishes of the majority. My family and I hope that Webster does not become a place in which we can no longer afford to live.
