Letter: Diversity on the rise

I wish to thank the organizers of the Hindu Purana program, offered at the Heights Community Center in Concord (Monitor, July 11).

It is wonderful to see that the Hindu people in New Hampshire have a gathering place with which to share their rich culture and religion.

Hopefully, it will help folks who feel they know little about Hinduism to recognize that most religions of the world have in common the desire for understanding and peace. Here’s to more gatherings in our increasingly diversified city!

There is nothing wrong with celebrating cultures and diversity but at the end of the day, "culture" is what defines and holds a society together. We ought to celebrate the melting pot as well.
