Letter: Shaheen cares about veterans
My late husband, James Goodwin, a veteran of the Korean conflict, and I have always looked to Sen. Jeanne Shaheen to provide the support and leadership needed for veterans affairs.
Throughout her political career, going back to her time as a state senator, then governor and now as our U.S. senator, Shaheen has always been a strong voice for veterans.
While I’m disgusted by news of deplorable conditions and long wait times in VA facilities across the county, I’m also proud of New Hampshire for the way our lawmakers have taken care of our veterans, especially Shaheen.
Along with the VOW to Hire Heroes Act Shaheen coordinated, she also fought for two more health clinics in Colebrook and Berlin.
While the rest of the country needs guidance in veterans affairs, New Hampshire, with a push from Shaheen and other lawmakers, paves the way to assure that those who gave so much to preserve our freedom get the opportunities and care that they so deserve. I am a proud Granite Stater and a proud supporter of Sen. Jeanne Shaheen.
