Letter: Well-deserved memorial
Regarding the John Winant memorial statue fundraising kickoff (Monitor Local and State, July 30), congratulations to the committee for pursuing this effort, which I hope will attract widespread support.
What’s remarkable is that it’s taken our community so long to publicly memorialize a great, humane public servant who was one of our own.
May his memorial remind us that compassion, as well as competence and economy, are hallmarks of good government, and must continue to be part of our New Hampshire political tradition.
