Hi 23° | Lo 8°

Letter: A boost from St. Paul’s

Having read the article on the St. Paul’s Advanced Studies Program (Monitor front page, July 28), I would concur that it is more than your average summer camp. It is an opportunity for serious, highly motivated, high-achieving students to be with their own.

The program also opens up new avenues of academic endeavor. My son had the pleasure of having a highly inspirational instructor, Mohamed Afaa, in “Introduction to Arabic Language.”

He is now a third-year student majoring in world affairs and Arabic language at Occidental College in Los Angeles. This summer he is studying Arabic language in Amman, Jordan, and enjoying the hospitality of the people there.

This experience would not have been possible without his participation in the Advanced Studies Program.

Michael Richard, thank you!
