Letter: Misplaced blame
In Paula Tasker’s letter, “Penacook Deserves More,” she attempts to rile up the populace against our state representative, city councilor and those darn Democrats.
She wants a complete change of all those rascals. Why? She would have us believe that by their failure to act, we have lost Penacook manufacturing jobs, that the Sewalls Falls bridge replacement did not get done, and that Penacook pays more in taxes than Concord does. All at the feet of those bad guys.
Tasker should get real.
Penacook doesn’t have manufacturing jobs because America doesn’t have manufacturing jobs; it’s called the global economy.
Last I heard, the bridge is still getting done. There have been major changes in direction causing delays, but that is the nature of how things get done in a city. How this is the responsibility of a lone representative or city councilor is beyond me. It’s a city problem, not just a Penacook problem.
Penacook pays more in taxes because we belong to a different school district. If Tasker wants to blame that on our current representatives, that will be a very long stretch.
Tasker should take a walk to downtown Penacook and the tannery site and witness what is being done to enhance our river village. That improvement can be directly attributed to the current and past state representatives, city councilors and staff.
There is a Tasker running for office here in Penacook. I wonder if there could be some connection to the letter writer?
