Letter: Lambert wrong about Garcia

I am a board member of an organization that fosters productive dialogue on immigration, and promotes pragmatic and realistic solutions to immigration issues.

Congressional candidate Marilinda Garcia has also served on our board.

I immigrated to America in 1979; President Ronald Reagan wrote to me with a personal welcome in 1985 when I became a citizen.

I soon founded Turbocam International, which employs more than 430 people in New Hampshire. As an immigrant and major employer, I have proposed solutions to the problems posed by the millions of undocumented immigrants in the U.S.

Instead of engaging in a mature discussion on immigration, candidate Gary Lambert is accusing Garcia of supporting amnesty, purely because she is was a member of our board.

To my knowledge, none of the board members or Marilinda have ever supported amnesty, purely because it is bad public policy.

I encourage Lambert to come up with rational proposals and compassionate solutions that befit a nation of immigrants and stop peddling untruths.

It will take more effort than shouting “amnesty.”
