Letter: We need casino revenue
Re “A cold, seductive snake” (Monitor letter, Feb. 19):
We have no income tax and must receive money from somewhere to fund our state. How many people do you think board buses every morning and head down to Connecticut or New Jersey to gamble in their casinos? These are New Hampshire residents. If my memory serves me right, were we not one of the first states to have the lottery?
Why not keep the money in this state and help our residents instead of letting the surrounding states receive all the money? Has gambling caused Connecticut and New Jersey to turn into Sodom and Gomorrah? I think not.
Hopefully the Legislature will pass this much-needed bill for our state funding. Then the buses filled with New Hampshire residents need only to drive to a local casino, not an out-of-state one.
