Letter: The Hassan agenda
Here are a few questions to consider about the agenda of Gov. Maggie Hassan and the Democrats:
∎ Gas prices are projected to hit $4 to $5 shortly. What do the Democrats want to do? Raise the gas tax.
∎ The Democrats defeated Right to Work. Where are all those high-paying union jobs? We could get business from Vermont, Rhode Island and Maine with Right to Work.
∎ The Democrats want to repeal education tax credits. This hurts the poor and the middle class. The teachers’ union wanted this. I guess Phillips Exeter Academy is out of the question.
∎ The Democrats do not want Northern Pass, windmills or nuclear energy. What do they want? Solar and wind provide only 4 percent of the total energy in the U.S.
∎ Hassan and the Democrats wan to raise the tax on cigarettes. If I do not smoke, what do I care? It’s my choice, unlike the gas tax.
Why are Hassan and the Democrats owned by the unions? Membership in unions has fallen by 400,000. The state (North Dakota) with the lowest unemployment is right-to-work.
Simply stated, we in New Hampshire face restoration of the payroll tax, rising gas prices, a new gas tax, and stagnant unemployment. I tried to find where the Democrats were recommending spending cuts, but there are not any.
Can we use the “Annie Kuster Plan” to pay our taxes? Pay when we are damn good and ready.
