Letter: Like Y2K
America has had enough of the propaganda of the present administration and its legions in the media. I tried for days to figure out the sequestration scam. A recent edition of the New Hampshire Union Leader included a perfect illustration of the deal.
Former president George W. Bush’s 2007 federal spending was $2.7 trillion, including a deficit of $161 billion. That’s 5.9 percent of the total budget. Our current spending is $3.8 trillion or 140 percent of what Bush spent.
President Obama’s deficit is $901 billion or 23.68 percent of the total. That is 5.6 times what Bush had.
The sequestration will shave a whopping 2.23 percent, not off current spending but off the proposed increase in spending. That is less than 3 cents of every new dollar to be spent.
This so-called sequestration calamity has got to be the biggest hoax since Y2K.
