Letter: Vote for me, Boscawen
I am running for the open position on the Boscawen Board of Selectmen. The town needs three selectmen who have only the town’s best interest in mind, without conflicting ties to the state, county or Merrimack Valley School Board. Only if the selectmen have no ties to these other agencies can the board fight to keep our taxes as low as possible.
In the past six years conflicts of interest have kept our board from being decisive and aggressive when dealing with the other agencies to whom we pay taxes. We do not get fully reimbursed from the county for costs we incur as a result of the nursing home and jail needing our dedicated services, nor do we keep the school board from spending money that goes above and beyond providing for the educational needs of our children. As a result, come next November’s tax bill, we will be paying school and county taxes at a higher level than in the past.
I do not have conflicts that will keep me from doing my utmost to keep your taxes as low as possible. I will listen to the residents of the town and act responsibly on their behalf.
I believe town governance is totally accountable to the residents, and no person is any more or less important or privileged than any other. All residents who need to interact with town employees should be treated with respect and professionalism at all times. All taxpayers who provide the money that pays the town’s obligations deserve the best service available.
I respectfully ask for your support and vote to elect me to the Boscawen Board of Selectmen so that together we can put this town on the right track.
