Letter: Campaign to eliminate hunger
This month the New Hampshire Food Bank began the “Do Something about Nothing” campaign. This is a creative and absolutely necessary campaign to be undertaken by all New Hampshire citizens. The idea that we can eliminate hunger is possible.
Whether you buy the blue can and donate your coins and extra funds, or bring food to your local food pantries, there is one more, most important thing you can do. If each of us speaks to one other person we know and we ask them to donate, become aware and reach out to local leaders about the social and political methods that support a local food and sustainable economy, there can be greater change. The goal of a food-secure state is the foundation of a strong and productive generation and its future.
Buy the can at your local grocery store, and thank them for being a part of this important step toward ending hunger and feeding families right now. But, remember to ask for help from others. I have learned how much people respond when they are just asked!
