Letter: What would Cheney do?
Any liberal glomming onto drone attacks on American citizens on American soil merely because President Obama is too stubborn to admit a mistake needs to consider this: Would you trust this same policy with George W. Bush? Donald Rumsfeld?
Sen. Dick Durbin objected to the unanimous consent that said the U.S. government has no right to target by drones Americans on American soil. This was pure pandering to the administration. Does anyone seriously think that Durbin would object if the unanimous consent said that Durban should never be targeted by drones? Or Obama, Janet Napolitano, Eric Holder or Joe Biden?
If the answer is anything less than “that is unacceptable,” then you know what to do. Call your senator and demand the White House repudiate the policy and pull back the nomination of the author of the policy. Dump John Brennan as CIA chief. There are better choices.
But if you lean left and are embracing the administration slag, ask yourself one question: Are you comfortable with that?
If that has not gotten your attention, ask yourself this: What, with this power, would Dick Cheney do?
