Letter: The real issue: We no longer value life
I have read many letters and columns by so-called civil libertarians who now demand our civil liberties, as they pertain to firearms, be taken away or severely diminished. But what they chose to ignore is that they are to blame for the ever increasing violence.
Thanks to Democrats and their legal arms like the ACLU, the First Amendment has been twisted from the freedom to criticize government to ensuring that the sickest minds have access to a wide array of media outlets that glorify violence as well as the humiliation of women. These same cadres of enlightened individuals worship each other at a plethora of events and give themselves awards and call each other courageous for killing blameless babies. These people are mad as hatters!
Assault rifles have been around for 100 years. Isn’t it patently obvious that the increase in violence is due to the fact that we as a society no longer value any life? Maybe the Second Amendment needs more tinkering, but so do the others. Let’s start with the First and work our way down.
