Letter: Scandalous

Re “New store causes stir” (Monitor front page, March 21):

How can two former selectmen who already own businesses in Pembroke say, “People are putting the cart before the horse; nobody has ever asked what I’m doing here.” And to give April 1 as an open date? They must think everyone ignorant.

Google “Trevors Toybox” and you’ll find a web page totally sexual in nature open for business for the store in town. One can just picture Pembroke Old Home Day this year, as the children line the sidewalks waving small flags, surrounded by restaurants, antique shops, leather and lubricant. The children of Pembroke have already noticed. Perhaps that was the point, since the website and Facebook page pose little difficulty to access. What’s next, Pembroke, peep shows or nude dancing? Shame on you!

MARTIN MAHON

Barnstead

Concord has Thorne's and that has not resulted in peep shows or nude dancing. Just saying.

To paraphrase H. L. Mencken, these latter day Puritans are far too worried that somebody in the neighborhood might just be having a good time.
