Letter: Outrageous cartoon
Mike Marland’s characteristically insulting approach to political criticism finds no more outrageous example than his depiction of Sen. Kelly Ayotte on the NRA’s lap (Monitor Opinion page, April 24).
Marland is extremely partisan – often to a highly offensive degree even in the eyes of those on his side of the aisle. And he is really the only cartoon editorial voice of the Monitor. Can the Monitor really do no better than to offer no alternative perspectives, not to mention alternative editorial style?
Just for the sake of a better understanding of whichever point of view is closest to what is right, perhaps John Stuart Mill put it best: “He who knows only his own side of the case, knows little of that.”
