Letter: Support mandatory oil heat licensing

Right now, anyone in New Hampshire can be in business and claim they are competent to repair or install oil heating equipment in your home. No license is required. Propane and natural gas equipment repair and installation require a license.

Senate Bill 189, now in the House Executive Departments and Administration Committee, requires mandatory licensing to work on oil heat equipment. This committee’s vote is one more step toward a full vote by the House.

If you use oil heat and want the same protection licensing gives to propane and natural gas users, then contact your local state representative, or members of the House committee, and tell them you support passing Senate Bill 189.
