Letter: Street number trouble in Bow

Are the Bow selectmen double-dealing with residents of Robinson Road?

Robinson Road residents received a letter from the selectmen dated April 5 talking about renumbering houses on the road. It was stated that after an April 23 public meeting residents would be notified about what the new numbers would be and when they would go into effect.

At that meeting the board was asked if this was already a done deal or if the meeting was to decide if this was going to happen and why. The head of the board, Jack Crisp, said no decision had been made as of that time and that the meeting was being held to determine how residents felt about it.

Check out the minutes of the meeting. It was also stated that the reason for the renumbering was that the E-911 folks had recommended that the road had to be renumbered in a way that allowed for a driveway every 50 feet. The board was reminded that in Bow the required road frontage for a house is 200 feet, not 50. Two days later at a minor accident a Bow police officer gave out a business card with the new address already printed on the card – not the old one. If no decision had been made on April 23, how did the police department have the time to have new business cards made in such a short time?

The police, the fire chief and a representative from E-911 were at the meeting, but none of them spoke up when the original “done deal” question was asked. Hmmm?
