Letter: Unforgettable evening
Bravo, Concord Chorale! Your spring concert was a melodious tribute to nature, to mothers, and to the arts. The whole evening was a gift, a package conceived by director Kristopher Johnson. The program was a seamless weaving of glorious group singing interspersed by pieces using, variously, a solo mezzo soprano, piano, clarinet, and vibraphone. (These featured artists were each perfect for the works, and I omit their names only to focus on the overall effect of the night.) None of the music was familiar, all the works were written by female composers, and all of it was memorable. The program was a totally evocative experience, and those who explored the program notes were further enriched. What a team the group and director make! It is an evening I won’t forget!
