Letter: Senseless vote

You’ve got to be kidding me! Refusing to permit casino gambling in New Hampshire makes no sense.

If the lawmakers are so concerned about keeping a “clean” environment for the families of our state, perhaps they should stop the sale of liquor on the highway. Go figure!

The Democrats who voted against the bill (and a couple of Republicans) voted against it for two reasons. First and most important is that they want an income tax, not to reduce property taxes but to bleed more money from citizens' wallets. Next, they made a moral judgment that people shouldn't be gambling and that they know what is best for the general populace. Their morals are selective.
