Letter: The visible finger

Re “Unions have the upper hand” (Sunday Monitor Viewpoints, Sept. 7):

Columnist Grant Bosse contends that New Hampshire employees should have to pay a deductible for their health care costs so as to provide an incentive for them “to limit their consumption of medical services.” Consistent with his apparent libertarian ideology, he thus treats medical care as a commodity best delivered by the wonderful Invisible Hand of the unfettered free market. So if we face a health crisis at 3 o’clock some morning, we can rely on the free market to come through? Perhaps, if we are not too sick to get ourselves to a competent medical provider and if we have the means to pay them. On the other hand, if we happen to be too sick or just not rich enough, the Invisible Hand becomes the visible finger.

I prefer the philosophy of Canadian sage Red Green: Keep you stick on the ice, and remember that we are all in this together.

Is that the same visible finger that 64% of the population was shown when progressives and Democrats railroaded through Obamacare against the will of the majority?

Nope. When you get the one you're talking about and you're an elected official, you might want to look for another job. If you get the one Mr. Lange is talking about, no matter who you are, you die. Nice try at a diversion, though.

Itsa...Is that the same voting public that elected a President who promised health care for 34 million uninsured citizens?? Then delivered on his promise??

Grant is among those who think breaking promises made years before is all perfectly acceptable policy. The sophistry created on his word processing app is among the finest ignoramus to be found within our borders.
