Letter: A malignant, growing cancer

Re “Please explain, GOP” (Monitor letter, Aug. 15):

Since I’m not a member of any political party, I can’t speak for the GOP. But I must ask the letter writer, where is the evidence that Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid or the Affordable Care Act are in “the best interests of the American people”? The Social Security scam simply steals earnings from producers during their working lifetimes, with false promises that the federal government will manage those funds, and provide for some promised security later. Did the writer miss the news that our federal government is broke?

The corrupt federal mess of bureaucrats in our government aren’t capable of managing anything other than filling their own pockets with stolen treasure at taxpayer expense. Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and Obamacare are not in the best interests of the American people! They are, however, fine examples of “programs” to make the American people evermore dependent on a malignant and growing cancer!

The govt is broke Tillie, and that is why they are borrowing and printing money. Yet, folks like you believe that we can keep printing money and borrowing. Social Security was suppose to be a savings account. Yet the govt decided that robbing it was a good idea. Did ya ever wonder why folks needed the govt to hold their savings instead of setting up savings accounts for themselves, that would actually earn money? Or investing in a stock that would also earn them money. It is called planning for the future. The poster is correct, the govt manages everything poorly.

The government is not broke. You must be the only person I have ever heard of who has never used government programs. That is fine for you if you are able to fund your own retirement, your own health care, any VA assistance any public education any public roads any police assistance any help to put out a fire on your property, check out the safety of your own foods. I could go on and on but since you must be a billionaire and never need help, don't forget there are many of us who do.
