Letter: A patriot and a friend
Much will be written about the life and times of our beloved Louie Smirnioudas, all of which will be richly deserved. Not only did he serve his customers and friends faithfully (and tastefully), but he also served his expanded community, including the local schools, and a vast variety of sports teams from Little League to pickup leagues.
More and above, Louie was a patriot! He dearly loved his adopted country and was fiercely supportive of the men and women who protected it, from the military to the police, fire and medical response professionals. Among his favorites were the New Hampshire State Police.
Louie worked hard aboard merchant vessels to help get him to the shores of America, in search of the American dream. He achieved that with his own labor, talent and loyalty to family, friends and neighbors. He was taken from us way too early, but I am sure he will be greeted at the pearly gates with a resounding “What’s for dinner, Louie?” May he rest in peace. He will always be remembered.
