Letter: Keeping Pittsfield safe
Re “Looking to ease the jitters: After wave of burglaries, husband and wife call meeting to set up crime watch” (Monitor front page, Aug. 20):
Well, I didn’t realize that Pittsfield had a bad problem of someone too lazy to get himself a job so, of course, the easiest thing to do is to steal from people who do! I have a lot of friends in Pittsfield, and I hate to think they will be victimized by a lazy criminal who will frighten them by coming into their homes and stealing from them!
If they do form a group to patrol the town, I hope they bear in mind the fact that the criminal or criminals can easily join them and then have a legitimate excuse to be out and about the town at night.
I would suggest they make a rule of patrols by twos!
