Letter: Heading toward irrelevance
With respect to the Monitor’s recent makeover/redesign, all I can say is that I’m happy I also get the Valley News so that I can still read about national and international developments, see some interesting op-ed pieces and get more complete sports coverage (the Monitor isn’t even printing non-Boston box scores anymore).
I don’t live in Concord and had relied on the Monitor as a source for statewide and national news. Now, I have to look hard to find something in the paper that’s actually of interest to me, aside from the comics and crossword puzzles. Is that really worth the price of a subscription?
I also notice that Mark Travis is now listed as “executive editor” as well as publisher, and Felice Belman has gone from being simply the editor to “opinion editor.” Here’s my opinion: The paper is rapidly heading toward irrelevance.
