Letter: Strong argument on Syria
Re “Whose lying eyes are you going to trust?” (Robert Azzi, Monitor Forum, Sept. 6):
Mr. Azzi, I read your column on why we should not get involved at this time in Syria. To my knowledge, no one has summed up all the pros and cons as well as you have. I agree with your reasoning completely. As you stated, we really do not know for sure exactly who did the gassing and why. But more than that is the fact we really don’t know who we will be aiding if we destroy this arsenal. Sure, Bashar al-Assad has killed many of his own people, but remember he is also fighting al-Qaida and its allies. It is like watching two confirmed bad men fight with each other and try to decide which one to help. Either way you are going to lose. Let’s get more proof and sufficient information to be sure who is the good guy and who is the bad guy.
PS: I sure hope President Obama gets to read your column!
