Letter: A better use for state hospital grounds
Thank you to the Monitor for keeping us informed about what’s going on with state government, some of which could be coming right out of a Koch Brothers playbook, and most of which preceded our present governor so she cannot be blamed for it.
I specifically refer to the placement of critical government agencies such Health and Human Services and its divisions at the former New Hampshire insane asylum and also to lawmakers taking advice on how to operate Medicaid from a Forbes-connected so-called think tank.
I can’t think of anything sadder for the people of New Hampshire than either of these eventualities. The Monitor’s map of the state hospital grounds was very helpful. Those buildings with a central heating plant and nice large open grounds could have been refurbished and used for much-needed publicly supported housing for those in need, including elderly, disabled, and disadvantaged like myself at this stage of my life! You cannot know in advance.
