Shaheen leads Bass, Rubens, Testerman in new poll for 2014 Senate race

U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen leads former New Hampshire congressman Charlie Bass by 10 percentage points in a potential 2014 Senate match-up, according to a new poll from a Democratic firm.

Shaheen, a Democrat, would get 51 percent of the vote compared with 41 percent for Bass, a Republican and seven-term former congressman who announced this month he’s exploring a run against Shaheen in 2014.

The poll by Public Policy Polling was taken Sept. 13-16 and surveyed 1,038 New Hampshire voters with a 3 percent margin of error. It was released today, and full results are available here (PDF).

According to the poll, Shaheen also leads other potential GOP candidates: former state senator Jim Rubens (50 percent to 33 percent), conservative activist Karen Testerman (50 percent to 31 percent), former U.S. senator Bob Smith (51 percent to 35 percent) and Dan Innis, dean of the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire (52 percent to 30 percent).

The closet race would come with former Massachusetts senator Scott Brown, with Shaheen leading him, 48 percent to 44 percent.

The poll also found Gov. Maggie Hassan in strong shape for 2014, leading all potential GOP challengers by at least 15 percentage points. Voters were more split when it comes to the Legislature: on a generic ballot, 44 percent said they’d vote for a Democratic candidate while 43 percent said they’d support a Republican.

This is good news PPP is a democrat polling firm. This clearly shows that Shaheen is vulnerable. Unless you are a low information voter who has no idea of PPP's background because the Guardians of Ignorance (the Monitor) failed to disclose that fact: http://blogs.marketwatch.com/capitolreport/2013/09/11/firm-flogged-for-spiking-bad-for-democrat-poll-in-colorado/

CAREER POLITICIAN Shaheen barely clears the hurdle of 50% - does not bode well for in incumbent with such massive name recognition. You can bet her multi $ Million war chest will be used in her usual tactic of personal destruction of any opponent. She will avoid the issues completely - That what democrats do

Yes and there will be a huge fear if Shaheen had a primary opponent. The democrats would go in full attack mode to a fellow democrat if they dared to challenge Shaheen. The democrats reasoning that Shaheen should not have a primary opponent is she has been an excellent rubber stamp to Obama.

democrat slime machine is already at work demonizing Rubens
