Letter: A phony bill
Re “Animal videotaping bill will help stop cruelty” (Monitor letter, Sept. 21):
I was curious to see what the Center for Consumer Freedom was and why it was so for the so-called anti-cruelty animal bill. I Googled it. It is (as it describes itself) a front group for the fast food, tobacco and alcohol industries, among others. It opposes groups like health advocates, animal advocates, environmentalists even Mothers Against Drunk Driving. By knowing what this lobbying group stands for, I definitely know this is a phony anti-animal-cruelty law and should not be passed.
