Letter: Forrest Gump moment
Thank you, President Obama, for sharing with the world your best Forrest Gump moment, “stupid is as stupid does.” The ugly, unavoidable truth is the United States has no strategic interest in the Syrian civil war.
There are three warring factions in Syria: evil, very evil and absolutely very evil. Attempting to degrade absolutely very evil, which will only serve to embolden evil and very evil, makes no sense. The only character missing from this potential calamity if we attack Syria is an archduke. That way we can all revisit 1914.
With more than 100,000 Syrians killed so far, the use of chemical weapons is horrific, but where was the protest over the 100,000 or the 2 million who have fled the carnage. The Egyptian government killed 1,000 with conventional weapons; are we to attack Egypt also?
What else can I say, Mr. President, but “run Forrest run.”
